The Rev. Dr. Joy Blaylock, Dean of the School for Ministry in the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast, dreamed of supporting lay graduates of the program by hiring a mentor to coach cohort gatherings in evangelism, and to plan evangelism initiatives.
The work was led by the Rev. Lydia Johnson, Canon Missioner for Development. The Rev. Mary Alice Mathison was the mentor for the lay leaders. Like so many in the church, they discovered a need for significant revitalization post pandemic. They implemented several events, such as a pet blessing and a blessing box, that served to invigorate the congregations.
