Stephen Lane’s vision is to lay the foundation for a 12-step based worshipping community at the HOPE Center in Western New York. His grant work included studying best practices on the Bexley Seabury “Learning from London” course, and then convening a Visioning Summit to develop a mission plan. The Visioning Summit, held in November ’17, brought together Episcopal and Lutheran practitioners along with diocesan leadership and Lane’s mentors from seminary and from Learning from London. The Summit was successful and is now awaiting Diocesan approval. Lane is currently serving St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Burt, NY where he is working with the congregation to develop and launch an alternative service for those for whom traditional language and worship are inaccessible. The Café Service will be launched in May and will meet on Wednesday evenings.
