Summary
The Board of Directors awarded 19 grants to 21 individuals, including 14 students and 7 faculty/staff members. Nine of the grants involved international travel. Grants represent the following seminaries:

Grants

Mike Angell, MDiv. '11, Virginia Theological Seminary, for an intentional program of training and immersion in various communities to study the intersections of community organizing and evangelism. He will offer a workshop to the seminary community.

Kirsten Baer, MDiv. '11, Virginia Theological Seminary, to explore the breadth and depth of the emerging movement, its relationship to traditional churches, and its implications for Anglican identity by visiting several emerging churches in the US and UK in summer of 2010, and to share the results with the seminary community through a guidebook and workshop.

Stephen Blackmer, MAR '11, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, to develop strategies for how the church might engage people, churched and unchurched, in the environment as a spiritual concern by conducting interviews with environmental leaders. He will produce an integrated white paper, a blog and will formulate the next phase of the project.

Kevin Caruso, MDiv. 2011, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, for visits to three emergent communities to learn their stories and their systems and to offer a workshop, bibliography and reading course to the seminary community.

Andrew D'Angio White, MDiv. 2011 and Sara D'Angio White, MDiv. '12, Virginia Theological Seminary, for a two-month internship in the Diocese of Navajoland, to create a self-sustaining youth program that will act as an evangelical witness to the wider community.

Dr. Ellen Davis, Faculty, Duke Divinity School, to conduct a Leadership Seminar for the Episcopal Church of Sudan, on the topic of the Bible and the Environment.

The Rev. Ann Franklin, Staff, Episcopal Divinity School, for a three-month mission tour in the Holy Land. She will serve as chaplain for Sabeel pilgrimages and will serve in parish ministry in the Northern West Bank.

Mary Ann Huston, MDiv. '10, Seminary of the Southwest, to present a workshop on labyrinths, to create prayer cards and to post signs at St. Mark's, San Marcos, to draw people into the church and to deepen their faith through meditative prayer.

Lisa Kimball and the Rev. Marge McNaughton, Faculty, Virginia Theological Seminary, to support the ministry of evangelism by homeless members of the Church of the Epiphany in Washington, DC. Participants in the Gospel Art! program will paint and sell wooden crosses to the general public.

Sarah Kitch, CA '10, Diaconal Program, Episcopal Theological School at Claremont/Bloy House, to teach a four-week course of interactive experiential drama at the Arab Evangelical Episcopal School in Ramallah.

Dr. Julie Lytle, Faculty, Episcopal Divinity School, to produce EDS' Faith Formation 2020: a conference of practitioners and academics to strategically consider how the Episcopal Church can help God invite, inspire and transform God's people.

The Rev. Liz Magill, Staff, Episcopal Divinity School, to expand the visibility of Worcester Fellowship (an outdoor street church) by enhancing the visual presence and adding a mission presence.

Clemence Ngijoe Yanke, MTS '10, Church Divinity School of the Pacific, to start a transformative process of healing and reconciliation using a contextual theology approach in Cameroon.

Bryan O'Carroll, MDiv. '11, Nashotah House, to culturally translate and implement the Community of Hope program of lay pastoral care in the Diocese of Upper Shire in Malawi.

Heather Sisk, MA '10, General Theological Seminary, to develop a sculpture exhibit dedicated to exploring Spiritual Direction through the ministry and witness of Mary Magdalene. The exhibit will be shared at a Quiet Day sponsored by the Center for Christian Spirituality at GTS.

The Rev. Andrew Sumani, MTS '10, Nashotah House, to train and implement home-based care committees for HIV/AIDS using the established Channels of Hope resource in the Diocese of Malawi.

The Very Rev. Sylvia Sweeney, Dean, Episcopal Theological School at Claremont/Bloy House, to expand the vibrant vision of evangelism articulated in the baptismal covenant, by interviewing the living authors of 1979 BCP.

Jesse Zink, MDiv. '12, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, to teach for three weeks at the Bishop Gwynne College in Juba, Sudan. He will also interview students and create a multi-media presentation to share in the US.
